Exercise Routine from Debby Gifford of Cocoa, Florida
Saint Patrick's Day Exercise Routine
I use Irish music – inexpensive CD’s can be found at the music store.
Choose whatever abdominal exercises you like, I chose:
Noodle double knee tucks, Noodle elbow to knee, and Noodle side bend. (1) Noodle behind back, tuck both knees center, back to bottom (2) noodle behind back under water press right hand to left knee as left knee lifts; all same side (3) keeping noodle in left hand, arm straight down at side, lean left pressing noodle from thigh to calf; all on same side. (4) repeat 2 on opposite side, left hand to right knee (5) repeat 3 on opposite side leaning right. We do each "crunch" 10 times and then repeated the sequence. The class had to talk through the entire routine repeating….

Center crunch – 1 Irish leprechaun, 2 Irish leprechaun, etc. through 10
Hand to knee – Looking for 1 rainbow, 2 rainbows, 3 rainbows, through 10
Side crunch - Looking for – 1 pot of gold, 2 pots of gold, 3 pots of gold, through 10

I say "but he found no pots of gold so
Hand to knee opposite side – he drank 1 green beer, 2 green beers, etc. through 10
"but he was still sad, so"
side crunches opposite side – he drank 1 Irish Whiskey, 2 Irish Whiskey’s, etc.
Then his mother wacked him on the side of the head and said
Center crunches – Now eat 1 loaf of Irish soda bread, 2 loaves of Irish soda bread, etc.
But he was still tipsy so he did an Irish jig
Hand to knee – so he did 1 Irish jig, 2 Irish jigs, 3 Irish jigs etc.
There he met:
Side crunch – 1 lovely Colleen, 2 lovely Colleens, 3 lovely Colleens etc.
But then his wife found out…
Hand to knee Crunch – she hit him with 1 sack of potatoes, 2 sacks of potatoes, 3 sacks of potatoes, ect.Until the last one did him in
So now he hears
Side crunch; 1 Irish Harp, 2 Irish Harps, 3 Irish Harps, ect.
At the last crunch you say: the moral of the story is, there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but you just completed 100 Irish crunches!!!

Wow, I hope that made sense. The idea was to do each exercise 2 sets of 10. Obviously you could come up with different crunches – 10 different ones 1 set each…..this is where individuality comes in. I like to make it not too complicated. Making the students call out lets me know they are breathing.
Thanks Debby!
