Expert Answer Q: I understand that persons with osteoporosis of the spine should not perform spinal flexion. Is this true in water exercise? Lynda Fox
A: Yes, it is true in water exercise also. The problem with osteoporosis, is a lack of calcium in the bones, causing fragility and easy breakage. The breakage is not necessarily due to body weight but to direct pressure on the bones themselves -sometimes caused by something as simple as bending or turning the wrong way at the wrong time. The major concern with spinal osteoporosis is the possibility of severing the spinal column with a bone fracture causing paralysis or worse. Please use extreme care, whether this condition describes you or your clients. Thanks for asking, Carla.

Family Traditions Most family traditions are filled with happy and warm feelings. Traditions are begun and are repeated for their various values or meanings. My father started a tradition years ago - one that we all shared as a family and now continue to perform in his memory. Daddy doubled his tip giving between Thanksgiving and Christmas - regardless of the service rendered.. His desire was to help struggling families to have a happier holiday season. I invite you to join my family this year with our tradition, or to start a similar one of your own. We should awaken to our numerous blessings and bestow a portion of it on others. Merry Christmas!
Carla's Morning Routine First thing in the morning, I sit at my computer with a cup of coffee. I shift through various emails, spam, news, ads, and web sites. One website that I visit every day, is the Breast Cancer Site. I click on the "Fund Free Mammograms" link, which takes me to a page with more organizational links at the bottom. I scroll down and click on the Animal Rescue link, which takes me to the "Fund Food for Animals" link. After clicking on this link, I scroll down to the bottom and repeat the process with the Rain Forest Site, the Literacy Site, the Child Health Site, and the Hunger Site. Then I go back and click on the Animal Rescue link one more time for good measure. It takes very little time and I like to believe that it makes a difference somewhere - to someone or something. Can you spare the time?
